Depressive symptoms precede and drive problematic smartphone use in Chinese medical students: a longitudinal network analysis

A study of Chinese medical graduate students reveals that depressive symptoms, particularly fatigue and concentration issues, are primary drivers of problematic smartphone use. Researchers used longitudinal network analysis to show that depression often precedes and triggers smartphone addiction rather than the reverse.
